Running projects
- "HEPD JupyterHub" Started in 2021.
- "HEPD Document cloud" Started in 2017.
- "HEPD VideoConferencing" (started long time ago. In real testing/operation from October 2009.)
- "HEPD WiFi network" (in development/testing/operation from February 2009).
- "HEPD Ethernet network infrastructure"
  - Brief description: the communication infrastructure consisting of: range of the servers, network switches, cable interconnections, related hardware and approprite software distributed over 7 buildings.
  - the project started in 1993.
- "BCFpc" (in operation from February 1998).
- "Proxy server".
  - Brief description: Maintenance/tuning of the hardware: system block, UPS; base OS; required system components.
  - the project started in 1995.
- "HEPD http server".
  - Brief description: Maintenance/tuning of the hardware: system block, UPS; base OS; required system components.
  - the project started in 1995.
- "ClusterGate site" https://sites.google.com/site/clustergateorg/
  - Brief description: on this site we keep a lot of references on many computing topics about distributed computing.
  - the project started in 2006.
- "PNPI network communication center"
  - Brief description: All Institute networks are connected here [cable infrastructure, network switches, etc.]
  - the project started in 1994.
- "PNPI DNS server".
  - Brief description: Installation/tuning/maintaining of the main and secondary DNS server for PNPI.SPB.RU.
  - the project started in 1994.
Retired projects
- PNPI mail server
  The project was started in 1993 and has been moved to another department in 2016.
- "Russian Regional Computing Facility - RRCF" Started in 1999. Retired in 2003.
- A developing of a distributed Network of the knowledge Bases for a Research of fundamental Properties of the Matter and applied nuclear Physics. In particular PNPI Web server was supported from this fund (from 1995 to 2002).
  In context of the project the first PNPI http server has been developed. The project reference number in Russia Fund for Basic Research (RFBR) is 95-07-19502.
- "INTAS 93-56" - an implementation of the satellite channel to create 64 Kbit/sec IP link between PNPI and Internet (DESY).
  (it was in operation from 22th September 1995 to 2002).

- "PNPI http server": Started in 1995. Moved to other group in 2002.
Remarkable history dates where CSD staff played key role
- 2010 - Virtualized HEPD Computing Cluster (former computing farm).
- 2009 - WiFi network and Video Conferencing.
- 2000 - one of the first GRID systems in Russia is in operation.
- 1998 (February) - start operation for Batch Computing Farm based on PC (BCFpc).
- 1995 (September) - an year development and start operation for satellite IP line (Internet) to DESY (64 Kbit) - first reliable channel to the Internet for the Institute.
- 1995 (March) - development start first PNPI web server (around 500 PNPI staff memebers did use it in that year).
- 1994 (from May until December) developemnt and deployment X-terminal network and PC network.
- 1994 (April) - development and start operation for modem IP (Internet) line to ITEP (Moscow) ~ 14 Kbit (around 100 PNPI staff memebers did use it in that year).
- 1994 (March) - installation and start operation for the computer system SGI (6 CPUs) for HEPD.
- 1993 (December) - development and start operation for first PNPI Ethernet network in building 7.
- 1993 (January) - development and start operation for PNPI public electronic mail service with mail server based on i386 under OS XENIX.
- 1993 (January) - stop operation and retirement of two old fashion computers of type ES-1046.
- 1988 - start the operation of the computers ES-1046 under VM/CMS and around 100 user terminals around the Institute
- 1983 - start multi machine system (2 x ES-1030 + SM-4, job submission system, text editor, around 30 user terminals)
- 1977 - two mainframe machines ES-1030 have been brought to the Institute, deployed and put into operation
